YOUR CHOICE

YOUR CHOICE

Pro Bono Cultural Change Campaign

“The heavyweights of Australia’s festival scene have had enough of punters acting like idiots, and have come togther to stamp out violence and sexual assault at live events”

Triple J

Falls Festival 2016 was a bad year, multiple sexual assaults at the Marion Bay event and a crowd crush at the Lorne site. Across the years leading into those events, the media had produced a steady stream of stories that placed blame for outcomes of individual people’s behavior on the events and venues where incidents occurred and the instances of sexual assaults were on the increase across the board.

Prophets Of Rage

Stacey and Alycia Co-Founded the Your Choice campaign. The goal of Your Choice is to help influence a culture of positive behaviour through shared responsibility – together as industry organisers and patrons attending.

We wanted to get the message out that as an industry we take this responsibility seriously and are working hard to ensure patron safety is paramount. But the reality is that we can only do so much, we need the help of our patrons as well.

Australia’s music industry leaders have made an important choice to speak up about antisocial behaviour, and to come together to strengthen and celebrate our live music culture. Your Choice is about personal responsibility, responsibility to your mates and calling out bad behaviour – something all music lovers should get behind. I commend everyone involved for leading by example and for backing all that is great about live music.”

Victorian Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley, Sept 2017

Your Choice launched with the backing of hundreds of artists, events, venues, festival and industry organisations. Over the past eight months, that supporter list has more than doubled and the Your Choice message has been embraced and rolled out at festivals and events such as Splendour In The Grass, Big Sound, Party In The Paddock, New Years on the Hill, Spilt Milk, Yours and Owls Festival, The Falls Festivals and many more. Venues across the country including The Corner Hotel in Melbourne, The Northern in Byron, the Zoo in Brisbane, Arts Centre Melbourne just to name a few!

Run The Jewels
